Acumentice appointed to conduct independent review of the Emergency Department at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital

Acumentice has been appointed by Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) to carry out an independent operational review of the Emergency Department at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH).
The engagement follows the Ministry of Health’s directive for an independent assessment to support immediate and sustained improvements within the Emergency Department. The review is expected to take approximately six weeks, with our senior clinical and operational specialists arriving in Bermuda in the coming weeks to begin on-site work.
The review will examine patient flow, capacity pressures, operational processes and opportunities to strengthen emergency care services. Our aim is a clear set of evidence-based recommendations that support frontline staff, strengthen patient experience and help build emergency care that is sustainable over the long term.
Our role is to bring an independent, clinically led perspective to the work already under way to ease pressures in the department. We will work alongside the people who run the hospital every day, listening to staff and patients and grounding our findings in what the evidence shows.
Karina Malhotra, Founder and Managing Director of Acumentice, said: “Emergency care sits at the heart of any hospital, and the teams at KEMH are working hard under real pressure. Our role is not to replace that effort but to bring an independent, clinically led view that helps it go further. We are grateful for the trust BHB has placed in us, and we look forward to working closely with its staff and leadership in the period ahead.”
BHB has said it will share the findings of the review with the public once it is complete.
