Acumentice becomes B Corp certified!
It has been a real team effort, with special thanks to Lucy Mills, Fizza Hassan, Amanda Ansah and Matt Lane for all their hard work in getting us over the line, and a big hat tip to Tom Jackson at FutureShift for all his help, advice and words of wisdom.
What is B Corp?
Certified B Corporations, more often known simply as B Corps, are companies verified by B Lab UK (the UK’s B Corp verifier) who ‘meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability’.
In total, there are over 8000 companies around the world with B Corp certification, accounting for more than 708,000 workers in 96countries. In the UK alone, there are more than 1,900 B Corps, including World of Books, The Guardian, Abel & Cole, Gousto, Patagonia and Innocent Drinks.
B Corps commit to positively impacting workers, communities, customers and the environment to create a better world for all, and to not rely on government and not-for-profits alone to solve the challenges we all face.
We are delighted to now join the ranks of our fellow B Corps, showcasing our commitment to society, the planet and our workers.
Why did we apply?
In August 2022, our CSR committee was set up and, since then, we have been working tirelessly to become a more sustainable, ethical, greener company for all our stakeholders. We have also sought to back this progress up by securing several environmental and social accreditations.
In under 12 months, we’ve obtained the Good Business Charter and ISO 14001, so to achieve B Corp now is truly the icing on the cake! We knew it wouldn’t be easy, and there would be a high bar for certification, but we felt it perfectly fitted our standing as a dynamic, bold, ambitious, fast-growing, forward-thinking company.
“It’s a very proud moment to achieve B Corp, knowing what it represents and how widely respected it is,” our Managing Director and Founder, Karina Malhotra, said.
“We set out a clear vision to become a more sustainable company with a bigger social impact, and have taken lots of steps to achieve this, and our B Corp certification really validates what we have been doing, even as an SME. It also fits perfectly with our company mission to help deliver positive, sustainable improvement, enabling the NHS to reach its full potential both now and in the future.”
She added: “I must say a big thank you to the Acumentice B Corp team for ensuring we secured this certification at the first time of asking – a brilliant team effort!”
Lucy Mills, our Director of Operations, said: “It’s fantastic to kick-start 2024 as a B Corp company. As a small company, it still feels that we’re only beginning on our CSR journey and already we have three accreditations recognising our efforts to date, which is an amazing achievement.”
Of course, in many ways, achieving B Corp certification is just a first step. We’re excited to shortly be publishing our first impact report which will further demonstrate our objectives for the coming year and help us go even further.
